Align and connect your team for organizational success

Instructions

  1. Make OKRs transparent.
    Ensure that everyone on the team or in the organization can see each other’s set objectives and key result measurements. No goals should be set in secret.

  2. Encourage them to spend some time working on their own side projects.
    This way, individuals might come up with ideas that end up being in alignment with the team’s overarching objective.

  3. Avoid micromanagement.
    A healthy OKR environment strikes a balance between alignment and autonomy, common purpose, and creative latitude. How your employees go about doing their work should be up to them. You just focus on setting rigorous goals and high standards.

  4. Encourage cross-functional coordination.
    Encourage your team members to reach out to other teams working on closely related projects. Let them offer help, and get help from them as well. This goes beyond encouraging vertical alignment between leaders and team members, to connecting peers across the organization.
