Balance your brain’s health
Instructions
-
Meditate for twenty minutes per day.
Pick a quiet place in your house and choose a time of day to practice meditation. Get in a comfortable position and think of why you need to meditate. Focus on your breath, even recite a mantra or follow a guided meditation. -
Choose green tea over coffee.
Trade your cup of coffee for a cup of tea. Aside from the benefits of green tea, you can also enjoy it for longer throughout the day. Try matcha or add different herbs, spices, or flowers to your tea to make it taste better. -
Read at least twenty minutes per day.
One of the most beneficial things you can do for your sleep pattern is to read before going to bed. Set aside at least twenty minutes before going to sleep to detach from your phone and pick up your favorite book. -
Enjoy brain-boosting fats, proteins, fruits, and vegetables.
Adding foods rich in healthy fats are mandatory to a healthy diet, but moderation is key. Include in your meals avocado or salmon and try different nuts for energy-boosting snacks. To include more fruits and vegetables in your meals, you could add berries to your morning oats, a side salad to your main meal, and pick fruit instead of a chocolate bar for a snack. -
Get seven to eight hours of quality sleep each night.
Make your bedroom more comfortable: change your pillows or mattress, have natural light coming into your room in the morning, and keep your room colder. Also, getting into a sleep schedule is essential for the quality of your sleep because it must be repetitive. -
Learn something new each week.
Think about the things you wished you had learned until now. If you have always had a passion for race cars, take a class and learn to drive one. Learning new things needs to be challenging and interesting so that you are engaged and determined to pursue them. -
Engage in cognitive training for twenty minutes each day.
Whether you choose to play a chess game, cards, or video games, you need to be challenged mentally every day. Make these moments of the day social by including your friends or family members. You can also learn a new word every day or memorize a poem or song every week. -
Avoid foods that are harmful to brain health.
Cutting out of your diet processed foods or refined sugars is key to maintaining your brain health. Cook with less salt, avoid trans fats from fast foods, stay hydrated, and opt for fresh food whenever possible.
