  1. Watch your thoughts
    If you catch yourself thinking about the possible outcomes of your actions, bring your attention back to that exact thing you have to do now.

  2. Place reminders in your environment
    Of course, we can’t always spot our mind’s rollercoaster of thoughts. But we can help ourselves by using sticky notes or signs to remind us of our goal. For example, the musician Rosanne Cash used a sign above her studio’s entry door that said: “Abandon Thought, All Ye Who Enter Here.”
