Instructions

  1. Start each day with a positive affirmation you actually believe in.
    Begin your day with a positive affirmation that resonates with you, such as "I am capable" or "I am worthy." Make sure that it is something you genuinely believe in, and repeat it to yourself throughout the day.
  2. Cheer yourself on. Give yourself a self-affirming gesture that resonates with you. For example, you may give yourself a pat on the back and tell yourself, "I see you, and I love you. You can do this, [your name]." Or, you may also look in the mirror and give yourself a high-five.
  3. Celebrate your successes by giving yourself a high five in the mirror. Recognize and celebrate your successes, no matter how small they may seem, by giving yourself a high five in the mirror. This will help your brain recognize that you are capable of achieving great things.
  4. Be gentle with yourself.
    Speak to yourself with kindness and understanding. Remember that nobody is perfect, and it's okay to make mistakes. Treat yourself with the same compassion and care that you would show to a friend.
  5. Get a handle on your emotions. Take the time to recognize and identify the emotions you are feeling. Don't be afraid to express them, but also make an effort to transform negative thoughts and beliefs into new thought and behavior patterns that lift you up and keep you moving forward.
  6. Be mindful of toxic positivity. Don't try to ignore serious problems or tell yourself that a bad situation is good. Acknowledge your feelings and be honest with yourself. It's okay not to be okay sometimes, and seeking help or support is a sign of strength.
