Consciously decide to create new habits in your life
Instructions
- Choose one habit and alter it to help reset your other mental loops
Let’s say you put on your right shoe before the left one and you also tie your shoes by passing the right-hand lace around the left-hand lace. Tomorrow morning, switch the order in which you put on your shoes and tie your laces. Do this for 21 consecutive days and use this simple act to remind you to change other habitual ways of thinking and feeling about life. For example, as you tie your shoes, tell yourself “I’m starting the day in a new and better way.” Then consciously decide that you’ll be as cheerful as possible that day. Be determined to act friendly toward others, be less critical, ignore pessimistic statements and smile at least 3 times during the day.
