Develop the carrying power of your voice

Instructions

  1. Speak softly.
Never attempt to force your voice when it’s hoarse. And always relax your face and body before and while speaking.

  2. Speak audibly.
Look up at your audience and speak as though you want the last person at the back to hear what you’re saying.

  3. Avoid drinking cold water while speaking.
The sudden shock to the heated organs of speech will injure your voice. Drink lukewarm or room-temperature water instead.

  4. Lower your pitch.
If you find that your voice is in too high a range, lower it. Pitching your voice too high will make it sound raspy.

  5. Avoid listening to your voice while speaking.
You will need your brain to think of what you’re saying. Reserve your observation for private practice.
