Develop the carrying power of your voice
Instructions
-
Speak softly.
Never attempt to force your voice when it’s hoarse. And always relax your face and body before and while speaking. -
Speak audibly.
Look up at your audience and speak as though you want the last person at the back to hear what you’re saying. -
Avoid drinking cold water while speaking.
The sudden shock to the heated organs of speech will injure your voice. Drink lukewarm or room-temperature water instead. -
Lower your pitch.
If you find that your voice is in too high a range, lower it. Pitching your voice too high will make it sound raspy. -
Avoid listening to your voice while speaking.
You will need your brain to think of what you’re saying. Reserve your observation for private practice.
