Encourage trust and authenticity in the workplace

Instructions

  1. Talk about trust at the workplace.
Try to understand your colleagues’ ideas about or sense of trust. What do they feel about it? How do they interpret the word ‘trust’?

  2. Point out behaviors that are examples of establishing trust.
Clearly state and demonstrate what qualifies as trustworthy behaviors and actions at the workplace. This will clarify what you believe trust to be.

  3. Look out for actions that are a breach of trust.
Identify if a particular action or behavior is a breach of trust and directly address the individual responsible for it. The more specific or exact you are, the less likely there will be any misconception or doubt.

  4. Practice self-trust as well.
Think of a time when your self-trust was in shambles. Why did you doubt yourself?. Did you respect your own boundaries? Did you hold yourself accountable or did you blame yourself? Were you generous and non-judgemental with yourself? Try to view your action from an external perspective.
