Grow your network and confidence
Instructions
- Make regular efforts to meet new people.
For example, you could offer to start a project at work that will connect you to new people in your company or join an evening class or an alumni club to spend time with people doing the type of job you aspire to. - Speak to one new person each week.
For example, you may introduce yourself to someone on the bus or at the bar. You could also try to speak to someone you have not spoken to at work. The more you practice, the easier it will become. Become comfortable with rejection and consider it part of your practice. - Find a networking role model.
This could be a friend or a colleague who is good at engaging with new people. If appropriate, take them with you to help make new introductions. Learn from their behavior, and you will become more confident at reaching out on your own. - Enhance your public speaking and leadership skills.
Find a coach or group to help you gain confidence and improve your communication and leadership skills. Become involved in local groups or hobby classes and practice your leadership skills by becoming a club leader. - Prepare your knowledge to share with others.
For example, you could start a blog or use an online platform to share your knowledge and creativity. Share what you know about with others both online and offline to build meaningful relationships.
