Heal your body
from How to Do the Work: Recognize Your Patterns, Heal from Your Past, and Create Your Self by Nicole LePera
How to Apply This
-
Eat healthy food.
Fermented foods such as sauerkraut, yogurt, kefir, and kimchi help produce beneficial microbes in your gut. -
Improve your sleep by avoiding caffeine and following a consistent bedtime schedule.
Caffeine and inconsistent bedtimes work against the rapid eye movement (REM) stage of sleep, causing us to feel tired and low on energy when we wake up. -
Practice deep breathing at least once a day.
Aim to practice this on an empty stomach. Sit or lie down and take a deep breath by expanding your diaphragm and not your chest. When you can’t inhale any longer, stop and hold your breath for two to three seconds. Then, exhale slowly, with no force. Repeat this cycle ten times. -
Get more exercise.
Start running, swimming, hiking, doing yoga, etc. -
Play with someone.
Find a buddy and play any game such as soccer, chess, mahjong, or cricket with them.
