Implement a structured plan to guarantee your success
Instructions
-
Define your ideal dream
What dream would you like to achieve in life? Be clear about your dream and make sure that it’s something ambitious enough to inspire you. -
Define your foundation stones
Foundation stones are the tasks that you can work on to achieve your dream. For example, if you want to win a marathon, your foundation stones can be your weight, your speed, and the distance you jog every week. Write down about 2 or 3 foundation stones to avoid overwhelming yourself with too many targets. Then give each stone a measurable goal, set standards for each one as well as a schedule to work on them. -
Create a commitment screen
Write down all the essential things you need to go after your dream. You can also write down a list of all the potential hurdles you’re likely to face as well as contingency plans for each pitfall. These checklists will help give you a reality check as you pursue your dream. -
Devise your plan
Create a plan that’s based on your goals so that you can keep track of your progress. Divide the plan into stages of implementation and set clear timelines for each phase. -
Oil the wheels of your plan
Measure your success and reward yourself whenever you achieve a goal for each stage of the plan. Keep a progress chart somewhere visible so that you can remind your Chimp of what you’re doing. -
Audit your dream
Look at your progress chart regularly to see if your dream is on track. Identify and maintain the things that are working and change those that aren’t. If you need to change some goals, do so. Be honest when auditing your progress, and if possible, find an accountability partner to keep you in check. -
Prepare for a variety of outcomes
When chasing a dream, you can achieve success, partial success, or total failure. Come up with a plan on how you’ll handle life after successfully achieving your dream. Maybe you can set another goal or reward yourself. For partial success, you can accept the outcome and celebrate whatever you achieve. If you failed, allow your Chimp to grieve and see it as an opportunity to learn new skills.
