Interview a business person to learn more about their buying process
Instructions
-
Choose a business person you can interview.
-
Find out where you can best reach your chosen business person.
Is it through email, social media, SMS text, or call? -
Send them a message asking if you could interview them.
-
If they answered yes, schedule a date and place/platform convenient for both of you.
You can do the interview online if that is the most convenient way for both of you. -
If they answered no, choose another business person who would likely say yes.
-
Go to the scheduled date and place of the meeting.
Introduce yourself and the reason why you’re doing the interview. -
Ask this person to describe a straight rebuy, a modified rebuy, and a new-task buying situation that took place recently or of which they are aware.
Define them if necessary. -
Ask them the following follow-up questions to help you understand their buying process more:
- Did the buying process differ based on the product type or purchase situation?
- What is the role they played in a recent purchase?
- What are the factors that influenced the buying decision? -
Write a brief interview report by applying the concepts you learned in this chapter.
Doing so will help you further understand the business buying process.
