Realign your internal compass with your goals
Instructions
-
Write down a “not-to-do” list based on what you observe in others
Reflect on the failures others have experienced without judging them. Learning from success stories works to an extent, but the same solutions don’t work for everybody. Sometimes, to set a better direction for your life, you need to understand where you don’t want to go. -
Commit to taking action
Reflect on the different aspects of your life and decide on one goal you want to achieve in each area. Then, define an action you will take regularly to bring you closer to your goals (one action per goal). -
Clarify what you don’t want, then move towards what you want
Make a list of all the things you don’t want in life. Then, make another list of all the things you do want. The next time you have multiple activities that demand your time, pick the one that is most aligned with your list of wants. -
Find a mentor who aligns with your life philosophy
Ask potential mentors serious questions about life to understand their way of thinking - what their definition of happiness or a great life is, for example. Look for someone who can help you continually improve on your strengths and not just your weaknesses. -
Remind yourself of the journey, not the destination
The person you become as you grow, evolve, and accomplish your goals is much more important than the goal itself.
