Instructions

  1. Find the root of the disagreement.
    Games often begin when disagreements unfold, needs aren’t being met, or compromises can’t be found. Once you understand the root of the problem, the Adult state can take over before the Child state starts the game.
  2. Utilize the Adult ego state.
    Once you understand the root of the problem, the Adult state can take over. In this state, you’re able to think rationally and speak calmly to find a solution to the problem at hand.
  3. Be vulnerable.
    The key to avoiding games in your relationship is vulnerability. Open up to your partner about how you’re feeling. A discussion between Adult states is the key to ending the game.
