Reduce the time spent on your inbox with the 321-zero approach
Instructions
-
Unsubscribe from all email newsletters.
This will prevent other companies from intruding on your day, interrupting your flow, and tempting you with their offers. -
Turn off all email notifications.
Notifications interrupt your concentration, work sprints, and ability to be present during meetings and conversations. -
Deal with all the emails that arrived within the last 48 hours.
-
Use the 321-zero system to process your email.
Check your email three times a day, take 21 minutes to clear it to zero, and ignore your calls at all other times. -
Apply the 4Ds every time you open your email
Do it, Delegate it, Defer it or Delete it. -
Think twice before you forward, cc or bcc.
This will help limit your email inbox as you will likely get a reply back for every email you send and every cc you include. -
Use the subject line to indicate the action required.
This will help the recipient process your email in less time. -
Keep your emails short.
Being brief isn't rude. It’s a sign of respect for other people’s time.
