How to Apply This

  1. Invest in equipment.
You need a good webcam, microphone, and earphones. Light has to be up to the task. Find a nice background.

  2. Design an event page and create a custom header.
An event page should tell a bit more about the program and provide information about presenters and time zones. It maximizes participation by allowing people to add a Google calendar item as a reminder. A custom header will increase the visibility of your event page.

  3. Become good at creating trailers.
It’s a great way to get more people to show up, especially if your followers share it.

  4. Use your e-mail to invite speakers.
You can use +mention or an e-mail to invite speakers. Try both because some of them may have trouble finding the +mention notification. Tell them to keep the link so they can get right back to it if they leave accidentally.

  5. Wear clothes without weird patterns with solid colors, as the camera doesn’t like clothes with stripes.

  6. Be sure to check everything before you start.
Send a checklist with the following content: Do you have a Google+ account? Do you know your Google password? Have you got a microphone or headset? Does your computer have a built-in webcam? Have you installed the Google+ HOA app? Is quiet around you?

  7. Rehearse and start at least 30 minutes early because the HOA interface may confuse your guests.
