Take breaks to let your subconscious go to work
Instructions
-
Take a break for at least five minutes
The more difficult and stressful the task is, the longer the break should be. If you find something particularly challenging, consider leaving it until the following morning. -
Do activities that do not require a lot of focus.
For your subconscious to go to work, you need to give it space. So, find activities that do not require a lot of focus, like going for a walk, listening to music, doing simple chores, taking a shower, or meditating. Whatever it is, make sure it’s not a mentally taxing activity. -
Return to your task.
After your break, return to your task and see if you find it easier. You may find a solution during your break, but if you don’t, that’s alright. You’ll still be more likely to make progress.
