Treat acne
Instructions
- Change your pillowcases more often, at least once a week.
The microbes that regularly build up on your pillowcase can disrupt your skin's delicate balance of microbes, called the microbiome, causing breakouts. - Use skincare products containing benzoyl peroxide or sulfur.
These ingredients are effective in treating acne. - Use topical exfoliants.
Applying acids can help tackle blocked pores, remove dead skin cells and trapped hair follicles and reduce your acid mantle to the lower end of the scale. - Avoid products that are high in alcohol.
Alcohol is a diuretic that causes dry skin, and when your skin is dry, your oil glands produce more oil to compensate for water loss. This excess oil can increase your risk of a breakout. - Avoid moisturizers made with good quality shea butter.
Although shea butter is natural, it's harder than most skin oils to break down, which can lead to clogged pores, giving you whiteheads. - Hydrate your skin well.
Dehydration is also a trigger of acne. - Take time to relax.
Stress is a trigger of most acne flare-ups.
