Utilize the power of acquaintances and partner with super-connectors

Instructions

  1. Become a restaurant regular.
Find a restaurant you enjoy and become a regular. Use the venue for your own events and parties. Aside from the food, you’ll meet other regulars and people the owner knows.
  2. Help a lobby group.
Is there a local person, trade union, group, or charity that shares your passion and values? If so, you may offer to volunteer or hold an event for them.
  3. Get involved in local politics.
For example, if you’re an executive, business owner, or entrepreneur, you could join your chamber of commerce. This will help widen your network.
  4. Co-host a dinner party.
For example, if you have a well-connected friend in a community you’d like to gain more access to, you may arrange a joint dinner party. Half the guest list can be your contacts, and the other half can be your friends. Ensure that you partner with someone you trust and that your contact sharing is equally beneficial.
  5. Become part of the conference.
When you see a conference that would add value to your mission, offer to help the organizer. Contact them and offer any time, resources, or creativity you can give to add to the event’s success. You’ll gain insight into how events run and greater opportunities to meet new people that can help you with your goals.
